The Next Step

The regular season has come to an end and both teams achieved the goals they set for themselves such as the first ever winning season for the men's program. The girls also achieved a program high for wins, goals, shutouts, and best record ever. "I am extremely proud about what the players have achieved so far this year and can not wait for the post-season to begin next week with the Regional Tournament" says Coach Davenport.

We all believe that we can continue on and make program history with both teams; by having the men win their first ever Regional title and have the women win their first ever District title. The boys will play Ranger in a very heated semifinal match at Cisco next Tuesday at 4PM; the girls play their semifinal versus Western TX next Thursday in Cisco at 4PM. If the each team wins the men's final would be against Western TX next Thursday after the women's semifinal; the women would play their final next Saturday versus Cisco at 6PM.

Dallas Christian is no match.

Both soccer teams had a great day yesterday; beating the 4 year school Dallas Christian. The girls got things started by winning 9-0 and the guys followed that up with a 3-0 win. Both of our teams not only shut out Dallas Christian but also did not allow a shot in both games! We had multiple scoreres in each game and we are looking sharp going into tomorrows big road trip at Ranger!

Lets keep moving forward and continue to win; in everything we do!

New Month; Same Story Winning!

It has been a little while since we updated the blog; sorry for that but we have been enjoying the season with both teams. The girls are continuing their goal scoring ways; at the moment we are ranked #4 in the stats for the whole nation with 60+ goals scored in only 9 games. The girls also have a record of 8-1 with our only loss coming to nationally ranked team. The guys have maintained good health which is vital for the rest of the season; a lot of players have gotten playing time and shown great things such as we are a very talented team.

Both teams begin the month of October with one goal in mind and that is to win Region IV. The girls last won the region in 2008 and the guys have never won; however, things are looking great and everyone is continuing to buy into our philsophy of "WE WILL WIN" in both the classroom and on the soccer field.

Rivalry with Ranger

Yesterday was a true test for both teams; as we took on one of our bitter rivals Ranger College. The women got things started off with a great victory 5-1 and showed great discipline by managing their emotions when things started to get a little physical. The win keeps the ladies undefeated on the year and we are now ranked #3 in goals for the whole nation!

The men then followed that up with an awesome performance; after being down at halftime 1-0 and off what the Ranger coached called "the best cross for a shot ever" the boys got it together and came out and scored in the first minute of the second half. It took all 29 guys to pull off the comeback victory and won 3-2 in the end over a very emotional and hard fought game.

We Will Win! Very proud of everyone!

Start with a Sweep!

Yesterday the Hill Soccer program played Paris JC in the opening match of the 2012 season. The women got things started by completly dominating their match; scoring seven un-matched goals for a 7-0 victory. The Paris women did not get a shot off all game; way to go ladies.

The men then followed that up with a very controlled victory 2-0 over the Paris men. It was a team effort all the way around; the Paris men wanted to give it all they had and the Rebels were able to maintain compusre and finish them off with two goals.

The women's and men's teams let their personal mottoes be heard "WEWILLWIN" and "Welcome to DaHill".

Rebels come out on top in Friendly

This past Saturday, the Hill College Rebels, traveled to Abilene for a scheduled friendly with the McMurry Warhawks. The friendly started off well with both teams maintaining even possession until freshmen midfielder Gabriel "NASA" Vera gets in front of McMurry's goalkeeper knocking in the opening goal in the 5th minute from Dario Joya's cross. The Warhawks capitalized on a free kick, beating freshmen keeper, Raul Segovia 20min later. The match remained in a draw for the rest of regulation and into overtime which still could not produce a winner. Both coaches decided to go into a shootout. Rebels win 6-5.

First round of scrimmages

On Thursday both teams were in action for the first time against new opposition. The girls played Brookhaven Community College and the boys played FC Premier '95. Everyone on both teams got to see some action in the games and contributed to a very successful day; both teams went down early and fought all the way back to tying and winning the game.

The boys travel today to McMurray in Abilene to see how we measure against a very improved D2 team with a lot of former NJCAA National Champions from Cloud County Community College. The girls next scrimmage is on Tuesday versus SAGU in Waxahachie.

Kids' perspective

Dan "Danimal" Fibbins (Australian Player) says the following: "Bieng an international student I've gotten used to the Texas heat, so when it rained I was fuming. Adding to the frustration of the wet conditions the team was schedule to play a 11v11 intersquad scrimmage; which we were all looking forward to. The weather meant we couldn't play on the practice pitch, so we decided on the next best thing ... indoor 3v3 tournament."

Kelly "Kwow" Van Heule (Hurst,TX) says the following: "Doing a 3v3 tournament in the gym was a lot of fun.! Everyone seemed to enjoy it even if it was billion degrees in there. Hearing the names of all the teams was pretty funny and matching outfits with my teammates was fun to do as well. Even though my did not win the tournament, I know we won in our hearts!!!"

Putting in the Work...

Training camp for the Hill Soccer Rebels has been underway for a days and both squads are coming into their own. The teams took some time adjusting to the sweltering Texas heat from dawn until about dusk with their boots laced and ready to go. With the early morning wake up calls the future Rebels got stuck in and formed a close knit group who are chomping at the bit for some competition other than themselves creating fun games against one other for bragging rights. In turn, the teams have created chemistry amongst their teammates and the program.
